Hytrin Product Description
Hytrin is a medicine for the treatment of high blood pressure and improvement of BPH symptoms in patients aged 18 and older.
- Patients with hypertension can use Hytrin as a monotherapy or in combination with thiazide diuretics or beta-blockers.
- Men with BPH can use Hytrin alone or in combination with calcium channel blockers or PDE-5 inhibitors.
Regardless of the disease type, drug therapy should be started with a minimal dose of Hytrin 1 mg. If the initial dose of Hytrin 1mg does not cause symptoms of severe hypotensive response (palpitations, dizziness), it can be gradually increased.
- To relieve the urinary obstruction, increase in urinary flow and reduce other symptoms of BPH, a gradual increase of Hytrin dose up to 10mg per day (single dose) can be required.
- To achieve and maintain a stable antihypertensive effect, a gradual increase in Hytrin dose up to 20mg a day (once or in two divided doses) can be required.
If you have not taken Hytrin within several days, resume antihypertensive therapy or symptomatic treatment of BPH with the minimal initial dose of Hytrin 1mg. Do not double Hytrin dose and do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose of this alpha-adrenergic blocker.
Hytrin helps to reduce high blood pressure in the first day of the use, but this medicine should be taken within 1-1.5 months to achieve a sustained antihypertensive effect.
Hytrin tablets should be stored at controlled room temperature up to 30°C.
Hytrin Safety Information
The first dose of Hytrin may cause orthostatic hypotension, which leads to an increased risk of dizziness, accidental falls and injuries. Because of the risk of orthostatic hypotension, the minimal dose of Hytrin 1mg should be prescribed in the first days of drug therapy, which should be taken just before bedtime.
