Cardura Product Description
Cardura is a drug for the symptomatic treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men and reduction of high blood pressure in men and women. Men diagnosed with hypertension and BPH can use Cardura tablets for simultaneous treatment of both diseases.
- When treating BPH, Cardura drug helps to quickly relieve obstructive and irritative symptoms of BPH, as well as improve urodynamic parameters and ease pain or a burning sensation when urinating.
- In mild and moderate hypertension, Cardura helps to quickly reduce high blood pressure and thereby, prevent the development of potential cardiovascular risks.
If you miss a Cardura dose, take the dose of this antihypertensive agent with or without food as soon as possible. No more than one Cardura pill should be taken on the same day. In no case, take a double dose of Cardura to make up the missed dose.
If you miss several doses of Cardura, you should restart the dosing regimen and resume the treatment of hypertension or BPH with the initial daily dose of Cardura 1mg.
Cardura can be prescribed together with antithrombotic, diuretic or other antihypertensive drugs to patients with moderate to severe hypertension or hypertension complicated by cardiovascular risk factors.
The patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (with or without hypertension) can be prescribed with Cardura together with other drugs to treat signs and symptoms of BPH, such as drugs from the group of PDE-5 inhibitors.
Cardura tablets (doxazosin mesylate) should be stored at room temperature between 15 and 30°C.
Cardura Safety Information
Patients with hypertension and / or BPH may experience hypotension when using more than Cardura 1 mg as initial doses, when increasing Cardura dose rapidly, after several missed doses of Cardura in a row or when using Cardura in combination with other antihypertensive agents. Signs of severe hypotension are dizziness and fainting. To prevent falls and accidental injuries because of fainting or dizziness, the prescribed dosing regimen of Cardura should be followed.

Cardura Side Effects
Adverse events caused by Cardura therapy are mostly mild and disappear very rapidly. Less than 0.5% of patients are forced to refuse the treatment with Cardura pills because of syncope or other adverse events caused by postural hypotension.
Most often, in Cardura therapy, the following adverse events may occur: headache (17%), dizziness (15%), fatigue (15%), oedema (7%). It is also possible micturition disorders (e.g., nocturia and cystitis), nausea, dyspepsia, myalgia, fatigue, somnolence, vomiting and cough.
Cardura does not cause adverse events or they are mild in the absolute majority of patients with hypertension and / or BPH.
